Miniature Museum of Taipei

Do you want to visit a unique museum in Taipei? Or do you need an activity on a rainy day, that's especially great for kids? Then the Miniature Museum of Taipei is here to help you out!

A 30 minute walk away from Beimen WOW lies the Miniature Museum of Taipei. Follow Nanjing West Road past Zhongshan Station and Songjiang Nanjing Station. At the cross of Section 2, Jianguo North Road, turn right and walk south for one block. Big signs on the pillars will indicate the office building for the Miniature Museum. The museum lies on the first basement floor, down a flight of stairs. It's also possible to ride the metro from Zhongshan Station to Songjiang Nanjing Station and thus shorten the way by about 15 minutes. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. Signs are written in Chinese Mandarin, English and sometimes Japanese. The entrance fee is NTD $200 for adults and $120 for children.

The museum specializes in miniatures showcasing the life in 19th century England and USA. They are extremely well made in their details, ranging in size from small dollhouses to taking up entire walls. There are also scenes depicting famous European fairy tales, for example Pinocchio, Snow White and Jack and the Beanstalk among others. Towards the end of the museum are some of the most impressive ones, like a replica of the interior of Buckingham Palace in London, or the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles in Paris. There's also a British castle complete with a massive army that was built especially for the Miniature Museum of Taipei. If you have the slightest interest in miniatures, then this museum is a must!
